A very famous korean dish, kimbap. Many people call it "korean sushi", but it is actually really different, although the shape is similar to the maki sushi, the taste is very different. It is refered as "fast food" and is made from rice, korean dried seaweed, and many other ingredients. When going to trips or special gatherings outside, it is very common. It is also very common at home. It is actually not that hard to make. The rice is cooked, and then it is seasoned with a little touch of sesame oil, salt and sesame seeds. The rice is then spread on the seaweed, and strips of ham, radish, spinach and eggs (eggs are cooked in an omelet way and then are cut in strips)are put over the rice. Then the roll is formed with the rolling mat. But this is not the only way of making kimbap, there are many different types of kimbap.
Many different kinds of meat, fish and vegetables can be used, they can be either roasted, pickled or fresh. Mayonnaise is also very commonly used.
There are many street vendors that sell kimbap, and restaurants that sell kimbap and other popular korean dishes are found all over South Korea. Depending on the ingredients is the cost of the roll, it goes from 1500 to 4000 won approximately (2 to 5 dollars).
